Well the sunny weather has run out for us as we woke this morning to the sound of rain. Morning was spent with the children playing games and watching television. The afternoon was spent in .... the on-site swimming pool. A walk through the rain getting wet, to imerse ourselves in the pool and then walk back in the rain again. It was a bit small and suprisingly empty.
Not much brighter but a lot less rain which stopped after breakfast. We decided to head on down to the Lizard point, the southernmost point of England. Parked up on the green with a voluntary contribution put into large collection box built into a stone wall. A local passed by guiding us to it. Noticing that he was carrying a disc-cutter I asked if that was how they got the money out, he replied that it was used on the cars if you didn't pay :)
We walked around a few of the local shops before heading down to the lighthouse and the point.
There were a few sailing boats out but they soon disappeared as the fog blew in. Sadly not so much to see, though my son spotted the rock below and thought how much it looked like a large shark.
Headed back up to the village as the fog really started creeping up and the fog-horn of the lighthouse started up. The chip shop wasn't open for a little while so again a wander around the craft shops. Some very interesting stones and locally made jewellery. But back to the chip shop for a really nice cod and chips with a battered sausage. Really, really nice, helped the cold of the fog disappear, though probably ordered and ate too much, yet again.
